Το συγκρότημα των Led Zeppelin που γεννήθηκε απο τις στάχτες των Yardbirds, όπου μετονομάστηκε απο New Yardbirds σε Led Zeppelin απο τον ντρανίστα των Who, Keith Moon, θεωρείτε απο πολλούς ενα απο τα κορυφαία συγκροτήματα στην ιστορία της μουσικής. Ο ηλεκτρικός ήχος τους ήταν διανθισμένος με αρκετά στοιχεία απο Folk, Funk αλλά και World Music που σε συνδυασμό με τα φωνητικά του Robert Plant χάρισαν στο συγκρότημα μια θέση στο πάνθεον της rock μουσικής. Το Stairway To Heaven που δεν κυκλοφόρησε σαν single αλλά ήταν για πολλά χρόνια το αγαπημένο τραγούδι για πολλούς rock ραδιοσταθμούς, με την εκπληκτική ενορχήστρωση του, χάρισε στο συγκρότημα την φήμη του κορυφαίου συγκροτήματος της δεκαετίας του ’70. Το τραγούδι έγραψαν ο Robert Plant μαζί με τον Jimmy Page μέσα σε μια νύχτα, σε κάποιο αγρόκτημα στα βουνά της Ουαλίας το 1970.

Born from the ashes of the Yardbirds, where they were renamed from New Yardbirds to Led Zeppelin by The Who’s drummer Keith Moon, Led Zeppelin are considered by many to be one of the top bands in music history. Their electric sound was complemented with several elements from Folk, Funk and World Music which in combination with Robert Plant’s vocals created a sound that gave the band a place in the pantheon of rock music. Stairway To Heaven, which was not released as a single but was for many years the favorite song of many rock radio stations, with its stunning orchestration, gave the band the reputation of being the top band of the ’70s. The song was written by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page overnight on a farm in the mountains of Wales in 1970.
