OASIS – Wonderwall – 1995

Τα αδέλφια Noel και Liam Gallagher αν και δεν έκρυψαν ποτέ το θαυμασμό τους για το συγκρότημα των Beatles, την απόφαση τους για να δημιουργήσουνε το δικό τους συγκρότημα την πήραν όταν είδαν μια συναυλία των Stone Roses το 1989. Το όνομα Oasis το εμπνεύστηκαν απο ένα χώρο συναυλιών στο Σουίντον. Τους ανακάλυψε ο ιδιοκτήτης της εταιρίας Creation σε μια συναυλία τους στη Σκωτία και είχε δηλώσει τότε ότι είχε ανακαλύψει το συγκρότημα που συνδύαζε τον ήχο των Beatles με αυτόν των Sex Pistols. Το τραγούδι Wonderwall πήρε το τίτλο του απο ένα δίσκο του George Harrison των Beatles και ήταν η μεγαλύτερη επιτυχία του συγκροτήματος στην Αμερική, μια περίοδο όπου η χώρα αυτή δεν ήταν ιδαίτερα ανοιχτή για τα βρετανικά συγκροτήματα. Το τραγούδι έγινε το σύνθημα και για τους οπαδούς της ManchesterUnitedτην περίοδο εκείνη.

Although keen admirers of the Beatles, brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher made the decision to create their own band after a Stone Roses concert in 1989. The name Oasis was inspired by a concert venue in Swindon. They were discovered by the owner of Creation Records at a concert in Scotland, who stated at the time that he had discovered the band that combined the sound of the Beatles with that of the Sex Pistols. The song Wonderwall was named an album by Beatle George Harrison and was the band’s biggest hit in America, at a time when the country was not particularly open to British bands. The song became the slogan for Manchester United fans at the time.
