CARS – Drive – 1984

Οι Cars δημιουργήθηκαν στην Βοστώνη το 1972 με το όνομα Milkwood. Υστερα απο δύο μέτρια album ο ιδρυτής του συγκροτήματος Ric Otcasek, αποφάσισε πρώτα να αφαιρέσει το γράμμα t απο το επίθετο του και ύστερα να αλλάξει το όνομα του συγκροτήματος σε Cars! Συνδύασε έξυπνα πόπ τραγούδια με New Wave ήχους και επηρεασμένος απο συγκροτήματα όπως οι Talking Heads, Blondie και Modern Lovers κατάφερε με το συγκρότημα να επηρεάσει συκροτήματα όπως οι Afghan Wings, Weezer και Matthew Sweet. Η μεγαλύτερη επιτυχία του συγκροτήματος ήταν το Drive μια απο τις λίγες μπαλάντες που ηχογραφήσανε σε σχέση με το υπόλοιπο ρεπερτόριο τους.

Cars were created in Boston in 1972 under the name Milkwood. After two mediocre albums, the band’s founder Ric Ocasek decided to remove the letter t from his last name and then change the band’s name to Cars! Inspired by bands like Talking Heads, Blondie and Modern Lovers, he combined clever pop songs with New Wave sounds and in turn influenced later bands such as Afghan Wings, Weezer and Matthew Sweet. The band’s biggest hit was Drive, one of the rare ballads they recorded compared to the rest of their discography.
